Department of B.Com Computer Applications – HOD Profile

Dr. M. Mahesh Kumar is a distinguished academician with over 18 years of experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership in the field of Commerce and Management. He was awarded his Doctoral Degree by Bharathiar University on 27th June 2018, with his research focusing on the financial behaviour of MGNREGA beneficiaries in Coimbatore District.

He completed his MBA in Human Resource Management (2009), M.Phil. in Commerce (2007), and PGDCA (2006) from Nallamuthu Gounder Mahalingam College, Pollachi, and earned his M.Com. (2005) and B.Com. (2003) degrees from Sree Narayana Guru College, Coimbatore, affiliated to Bharathiar University.

Currently serving as Associate Professor and Head of the B.Com (CA) Department at Sri Krishna Adithya College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore (since November 2018), Dr. Mahesh Kumar previously worked as Assistant Professor of Commerce at Sree Narayana Guru College (2009–2018) and Lecturer in Commerce at Kovai Kalaimagal College of Arts and Science (2007–2009). He holds Bharathiar University Guide Recognition for both M.Phil. and Ph.D. supervision.

Dr. Mahesh Kumar has made substantial contributions to research and scholarship, having published over 39 research articles in reputed national and international journals, authored a book titled “Internet and Web Designing” (ISBN: 978-93-5406-374-9, 2022), and contributed a book chapter on the impact of Information Technology in Banking (Shanlax Publications, 2024). He has also presented more than 30 research papers at international, national, and state-level conferences and seminars.

With more than 9 years of active research supervision, he has successfully guided 18 M.Phil. scholars and is currently supervising 2 Ph.D. research scholars. He completed a Minor Research Project funded by SNGET on small-scale industries in SIDCO, Coimbatore, and has submitted funded project proposals to UGC, DST, and ICSSR on rural development, agritech startups, and ICT adoption among farmers.

Dr. Mahesh Kumar plays a key role in institutional development and national-level academic initiatives. He serves as NIRF Coordinator, leading his institution to secure rankings in the 101–150 band (2023 & 2024) and 151–200 band (2025). As NISM Coordinator, he guided student teams to national finals at the NISM Campus, Mumbai, and helped secure major participation awards.

His additional leadership roles include NSP Nodal Officer, IIC Vice President, Anti-Drug Club Nodal Officer, AICTE Coordinator, AISHE Coordinator, Graduation Day and Induction Programme Coordinator, and Resource Person for emerging academic and research topics. He has also served as NSS Programme Officer, Citizen Consumer Club Officer, Alumni Association Secretary, and Public Relations Officer.

A certified MoE Innovation Ambassador (Advanced Level) and NPTEL Mentor, Dr. Mahesh Kumar has completed 45+ online professional courses and participated in 25+ Faculty Development Programs and multiple national and international workshops, strengthening his expertise in research methodology, ICT-enabled teaching, artificial intelligence, data analysis, and strategic human resource management.

Recognized for his student-centric leadership, academic excellence, and commitment to innovation, Dr. M. Mahesh Kumar consistently works toward nurturing student potential, promoting research culture, and achieving holistic academic and professional development outcomes.
