About the Department

The department of Mathematics was established in the year 2016. The department offers opportunities for the education and research in a wide spectrum of areas in Mathematics such as: Algebra, Analysis, Control Theory, Differential Equations, Discrete Mathematics, Operations Research, Stochastic Modeling and Analysis, Special Functions, Topological Dynamics, Statistics etc. We provide beginners with bridge courses to become acquainted with the preliminaries of mathematics and the techniques to use and train them in the rigor and precision characteristic of mathematical reasoning. Along with teaching, our faculty members are actively engaged in research by participating in conferences/seminars/collaborative works at the national and international institutes/universities. The department has strongly motivated faculty with diverse specialization in Mathematical sciences providing a potential for pursuing higher studies and research in basic sciences as well as in interdisciplinary areas of science, engineering and technology. The department is committed to train the students to make them motivated and dedicated engineers and scientists.

Mission

The department will contribute to the development of students as mathematical thinkers, enabling them to become lifelong learners, to continue to grow in their chosen professions, and to function as productive citizens. To make the students as the technology   oriented mathematician   through activity based teaching and learning process.

Vision

The Department of Mathematics strives to be internationally recognized for academic excellence through the depth of its teaching and research methodology, and to be locally relevant through its role in the development of the community it serves.

Objective

  • Create an mathematical environment which promotes the intellectual and professional development of students and faculty.
  • Provide additional courses for all students which meet the educational and technical demands of the sub-disciplines represented in the Department.

The B.Sc. Mathematics program describes accomplishments that graduates are expected to attain within five to seven years after graduation.

PEO1 – Acquire knowledge in functional areas of Mathematics and apply in all the fields of learning.

PEO2 – Recognise the need for lifelong learning and demonstrate the ability to explore some mathematical content independently.

PEO3 – Employ mathematical ideas encompassing logical reasoning, analytical, numerical ability, theoretical skills to model real-world problems and solve them.

PEO4 – Develop critical thinking, creative thinking, self confidence for eventual success in career.

PEO5 – Analyze, interpret solutions and to enhance their Entrepreneurial skills, Managerial skill and leadership.

PEO6 –To prepare the students to communicate mathematical ideas effectively and develop their ability to collaborate both intellectually and creatively in diverse contexts.

PEO7 –Rewarding careers in Education, Industry, Banks, MNCs and pursue higher studies.

BEST PRACTICES:

  • Teaching staff and students are engaged in a joint effort to achieve their educational goals.
  • To coach slow learners with extra practice and remedial sessions to enhance their performance.
  • The Department has continuous contact with alumni to utilize their services for placements and guest lectures.
  • Students are encouraged to take seminar for improving their conceptual skills.
  • Apart from these we also inculcate responsibility towards society in our students to visit orphanages, and old age homes.
